Accion's Plans for Indian Frontier Investment Fund
Bangalore: ACCION International is a microfinance and micro lending organization which is now planning to invest in India and set up a frontier Investment fund which will focus on emerging economics with India as a priority.
The fund will have a corpus of $60Million to $75Million and will focus on ventures beyond the microfinance space alone reports DealCurry. ACCION manages 3 Funds: ACCION Gateway Fund, Frontier Investments Group and Gateway, Microfinance Investment Vehicle Fund.
The new fund could also gain from a transfer of unused capital from ACCICON’s Gateway microfinance Investment Fund. Till now $6Million has been deployed from the former, out of a total of $ 25 Million.
ACCION has already invested in three ventures and the company is been in India from 2005. It has already invested in three ventures: Swadhar Finserve, Saija Finance, Vindhya e-Info-Media.
Accion recently launched its $10 Million investment vehicle, venture lab, which is focused on providing organizations, it will promote financial inclusion.
It is going to invest $100,000 and $500,000 mostly as convertible equity. It is looking to invest in those company related to Phones-based financial services, Peer-to-Peer social media platforms and those who are offering new products such as micro-insurance.
