Fiestah

Planning a large gathering can be an exercise in patience. You have to find and make agreements with one service provider after another. Fiestah aims to solve this problem by letting customers compare quotes from a preselected list of vendors, to book a location and pay for it all in one platform.  The company was cofounded by Putri Nurul Ida, a former Goldman Sachs analyst, and recently raised an undisclosed sum of money from Dreamit Ventures in its seed round.

uBeam

These are many complaints about electronics, but near the top of the list is the common problem of low battery life.  Trapped in a college class with a dead battery and no charger for her laptop, Meredith Perry decided to solve this problem and founded uBeam, a tech product that uses ultrasound waves to charge electronics wirelessly. The company has raised 13.2 million from investors like Tony Hsieh, Mark Cuban, Marissa Mayer, Andreessen Horowitz and Troy Carter.
