In 2000, AOL Time Warner came into birth when AOL acquired Time Warner for $164 billion. The deal was announced on January 10, 2000 and officially filed on February 11, 2000. The company completed the merger on January 11, 2001 when the Federal Trade Commission cleared the deal on December 14, 2000. The purchase was an all-stock deal, and according to the deal, the company had an estimated combined value of $350 billion.
