All started when the Kagan realized that there were no product bundle or daily deal sites for the growing web applications category. He launched the site within a month of hiring an outsourcer to build the back-end of AppSumo and he himself build the front end using open-source member registration code. Today, the company has over 500,000 subscribers, several paying customers and a growing fan base of individuals, startups and businesses.
