Sneak Peak Into India's First Startup Village


Bangalore: A startup needs a conductive atmosphere to boost and nurture ideas. India witnessed its first startup village in Cochin, the country’s first PPP (Public – Private - Partnership) telecom-based incubator which was inaugurated by Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder, Infosys on 27 May, 2012. This startup village has a whopping 100 crores budget and plans to nurture 1000 student startup in the next 10 years.

Who does it?

This startup village has plans to emulate the very famous Silicon Valley incubators and slowly transform Kerala into ‘Silicon Coast.” The startup village is being set up by the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) under the department of science and technology, Kerala Government-run Technopark in collaboration with MobME Wireless, a private firm which began as a student start-up at Technopark-Technology Business Incubator.
