PuREnergy set to launch affordable lithium batteries in India

battery Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-Hyderabad)-incubated start-up PuREnergy on Monday said it would launch its affordable range of lithium batteries at the Renewable Energy Expo 2018 that begins at Greater Noida on Tuesday.

The lithium batteries developed by PuREnergy may find applications in diverse fields ranging from agriculture to aerospace.

"We are in close discussion with few defense laboratories for our battery applications in tanks, missiles, and Communication Equipment," said IIT-Hyderabad Assistant Professor Nishanth Dongari who founded PuREnergy in 2016.

PuREnergy has been one of the pioneers in developing solar hybrid systems combining solar PV (photovoltaic) with battery back-up and grid synchronization.

It has served more than 100 clients in sectors as varied as the Telangana government, pharmaceuticals, real estate, hospitals, and non-governmental organizations at the national level, IIT-Hyderabad said in a statement.

The team has built expertise in the battery design by choosing application specific cell chemistry to offer lower total cost of ownership and efficient thermal management systems to enhance battery life by 50 percent for Indian conditions, the statement added.
