Phone Warrior Secures $550,000 In Seed Funding From Lightspeed Ventures


Bangalore: Phone Warrior a New Delhi based startup, that has a comprehensive mobile spam guard for both calls and sms has announced procuring a seed round of funding of $550,000 from Lightspeed Venture Partners. The funding will be used to upscale the user base from the current 1 million to 10 million over the next 12 to 18 months, reports DealCurry.

Chandan Gupta and Vaibhav Padlikar co founders of the 3 month old nascent Phone Warrior have plans to launch directory search services similar to other players in the market like WhosCall and True Caller. Phone Warrior, the mobile app can block all spam calls while providing the user with details of the caller name, location and other spam related information on receipt of a call from an unknown source.

Phone Warrior has blocked over 27 million spam calls and messages till date. Currently available on Android, Symbian 60 and Blackberry platforms, the company plans to launch the app on iOS platform by January 2014. With over a million downloads of the app in India, Indonesia and UK, the app is available in many other languages like French, Indonesian, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Spanish, Chinese and Russian.
