Bangalore: New Delhi Television Limited popularly known as NDTV, a popular Indian multiple medium media conglomerate has launched its own e-commerce venture – Indiaroots.com. It is confirmed that Rahul Narvekar, CEO, NDTV Ethnic Retail will head the new venture.

Interestingly, to boost up its value and to have a strong stand in the competitive e-commerce environment, NDTV has awarded the creative duties of the brand and its promotion to Ogilvy India. Though this move might help in creating a buzz in the market, it is important to understand the NDTV has no great experience in e-commerce and with slit-throat competition from existing players it will be really interesting to see how it establishes its brand.

Indiaroots was launched few weeks back and is currently in its beta stage. Rahul Narvekar has been appointed as the CEO to lead NDTV in e-commerce space. Narvekar has considerable experience in the startup arena; he was the co-founder of Fashionandyou and has helped this venture to grow big right from its early stages.

‘Without marketing for the website (blog) we have already got more than 4 lakh+ visits so far highlighting the popularity of the category among the people,’ said Narvekar.
