Mobile-Tech Startups Assisting E-Governance To Be Funded By Government

Bangalore: Mobile technology ventures in the country are to be backed by government through dedicated funds to develop solutions for e-governance. According to Economic Times, the fund is to be carved out from 700 crore allocated for the national e-governance plan in this year’s annual budget to fostering the growth of startups across the country.

Information and Technology department is to overlook the process of creation and management of the fund for a minimum of three years, said a government official who chose anonymity over the matter. He also added that the size of the fund is yet to be finalized.

The whole idea behind this process is to award grant to startups that build apps for various government processes like to authenticated Aadhaar, provide a birth or death certificate or alert the police in an emergency. By March next year, the government expects to have a number of such apps for mobiles on official e-governance platform.
