Kumar Ganapathy Founded Virident raises $21 Million
Santa Clara: California-based flash-based Storage Class Memory solution provider Virident has raised $21 million in series C round of funding from Intel Capital, Cisco, and a storage solutions provider. The existing investors Sequoia Capital and Artiman Ventures also participated in the funding. The funding goes in hand with Virident's announcement of its product Virident FlashMAX. Virident plans to use the funds for market expansion and product innovation. Virindent was co-founded in 2006 by Kumar Ganapathy and Vijay Karamcheti, and helps enterprises solve the challenge of poor performance with flash storage solutions that speed up the application performance, ensure predictable performance under various workloads, and are compatible with all servers. Kumar Ganapathy, CEO and Co-Founder, Virident has many years of experience as an operating executive and entrepreneur in the high technology field. In the past he worked as he Executive in Residence at Artiman Ventures, as the CTO and co-founder of VxTel, as a developer of VoIP DSP processors and sybsystems. Ganapathy has also worked as the Director of Architecture and Engineering, as well as in the CTO office of Intel Communication Group. He was the Principal Engineer and Fellow of Conexant and Rockwell Semiconductor. Ganapathy has done his B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbaba Champaign. He has published many papers and has been issued 16 patents.
