Kerala To Celebrate September 12 As Entrepreneurship Day

Bangalore: With the success of Startup village which promotes innovative startups in and around the state, Kerala Chief Minister, Shri Oommen Chandy has declared September 12 to be the official entrepreneurship day of the state.

Kochi Startup village which is a first-of-its-kind start-up incubator in India started its operations in April 11, 2012 and has secured over 1000 innovative project proposals from students across the state in just 15 months. To commemorate its success, the Kerala State government has declared its decision to rollout the second phase of the ‘Student Entrepreneurship Policy’ to all the school-going students.

Student Entrepreneurship Policy encourages youngsters to put forth their innovative ideas into business by offering numerous incentives for these students. By conducting an on-line examination, more than 10,000 bright students between classes VIII to XII will be selected and given an opportunity to be a part of this rich learning culture. These students will be provided computers and other learning materials to nurture them in the direction of technological innovation.

“The fact that Kerala today has 125 functional startups shows how widely the government’s policies have been embraced within the student community,” the CM said on the success of Startup village.
