India's Billion Dollar Startup Club


BENGALURU: Eight Indian startups out of forty from Asia are at the Billion Dollar Startup Club (based on venture capital), as per the statistics posted by the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones VentureSource.

Flipkart – 15 Billion

Founded in 2007 by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, who were former employees of Amazon, Flipkart was able to develop a large customer base in a short span. In September 2015, the founders entered Forbes India Rich List debuting at the 86th position with a net worth of $1.3 billion each. It is also the only Indian company to be placed among the top 10 most valued firms in the world.
