Indian Cook-And-Delivery Startups To Witness Rise In 2015

BANGALORE: The year 2014 brought the success for Uber and Ola while 2015 looks good for marking the surge of food delivery Indian startups. As city life in India is sprinting, office goers are left with no time to cook.  In the wake of this, young and budding Indian entrepreneurs are trialing out new business ideas to cater this office going population.

iTiffinFood is on the minds of quite a lot of people, excluding the ones on diet. Krishnan Ghosh, serial entrepreneur and investor is of the view, “Buying a book is optional, going for a vacation is optional, thinking about God is optional, but food is not optional," reports The Economic Times.

Ghosh  has his bread buttered on both sides with investments in healthcare, online groceries and education and food being a priority is his motive behind promoting FreshMenu. Rashmi Daga’s food delivery startup in Bangalore, FreshMenu, prepares and distributes meals at 250 per meal with alternative menu every day. Food from this startup can be ordered from the mobile app or website.

In comparison to the street side restaurants, these startups are innovative way to skip the cost of real estate, air conditioning and service. "We also bring down costs by using technology and analytics to predict demand. We even know the eating pattern of a suburb like Whitefield," said Ganesh.

On the other hand, the owners of food startup based out of Bangalore, Brekkie, could relate to people having to leave for office without any quick bite and thus end up with this concept. Ashwin Chandrasekaran, cofounder at Brekkie with Haripriya Raja and Nikhil Behl, said, "We weren't morning people. Most mornings, we didn't even have time to grab a bite - unless we wanted a greasy dosa in a packed darshini,"
