HYDERABAD: Hyderabad-based entrepreneur Raghu Kanchustambham won the 'Best App in Asia' award at the Digital Winner Conference 2014 held at Oslo. The mobile application, "Livelihood 360" (L360), developed by Kanchustambham was judged as the 'Best App in Asia' out of the six nominated Asia region contestants. The award was given by the Norway's mobile operator Telenor at a function early IN November. The winner was rewarded with a cash prize of NOK 100,000 (Rs 9,79,000 approximately) for further development of the app as a commercial venture.

The app 'Livelihood 360' is based on rural Enterprise Resource Planning platform and supports livelihoods associated with agriculture, according to a Telenor statement. It builds a holistic connection from demand to produce, right from procurement from the farmer to the material records of production, to be able to quantify yield and determine the quality of the produce.

The app has been adopted by over 12,000 farmers across 658 villages in the Araku Valley region of Andhra Pradesh, the statement said. "Through recognition from corporates such as Telenor, we can rapidly gain endorsement for our services, distribute our services on a larger scale and gain access to much needed funding," Kanchustambham, Founder & CEO, Concept Waves, a city-based start-up, said.
