How I Practice To Be A Successful CEO

Bangalore: A CEO to a company is what a father is to a family. A deep caring nature, a thoughtful work process for each functionality of the house, and the well being and growth of each member of the family is the responsibility of a father. Similarly, a CEO, most importantly a successful one, has certain traits in them that differentiate them from others. Two entrepreneurs share their views about what traits a successful entrepreneur holds and how they try to infuse it in their professional life to succeed in their goals.

Vikas Agarwal, CEO, XPT Software Services

CEO should be driven by values and the same should be visible seamlessly to the outside world as well as internally within the organization. He is seen as fatherly figure by the organization and therefore he should be patient at times, he should lead by examples, and be caring as well as strict at times based on circumstances. He should inculcate the culture, which promotes excellence within the organization, and have the top view of the organization structure and clarity of the future roadmap.

I try to practice the above aspects in my organization and the these principles have helped us in growing the team from 2 members to 70+ in last couple of years. I also try to create best practices within the organization like  "Hands on Multiple Aspects of Delivery ", Motivating Physical and Mental Fitness of our Employees,    Creating a culture of Mutual Respect, and Driving Business through involvement and passion and continuous focus on the Macro Economic Environment and its implication on the strategic decisions at XPT.

Rajeev Dhal, Founder And CEO, GrabDeal.com

Successful CEO will always take ownership of failures, will always lead from the front, will stick their neck out and take the team along to command respect and trust from the team.

Absolutely, I am trying to infuse these practices in my professional life. In my company, I follow a hybrid approach where I am 100 percent hands on with regards to critical strategic decisions but otherwise I give full control to my team. I am trying to build a team of leaders and challengers within my company who always doubt the status quo and want to make a difference.
