Government Launches Twitter Seva to Connect With the Growing Start-Up Community


BENGALURU: Indian Government has taken a ‘Start up India, Stand up India’ initiative to support the mushrooming Start Up entrepreneurs by guiding them in overcoming the problems in front of them. Now the Government has established a direct hotline with the popular social media platform viz. Twitter. Start up entrepreneurs can directly ask for any assistance from the Government via tweets on Twitter for quick and efficient problem solving.

The Government has named this helpline initiative created on micro-blogging site Twitter as ‘Twitter Seva’ service. This social media platform can help entrepreneurs’ up-to a great level in fund seeking, or any Government assistance. This service will be on air from April 21 and will be handled by a team of officials from the Ministry of Commerce and industry for start-up assistance to connect various stakeholders such as venture capitalists and incubation centers’. Additionally, it also helps in tackling the government issues for clearance.

Similar kind of helpline was earlier issued for railway and power ministry on Twitter which successfully achieved the objectives. The Ministry will be keeping an eye on the tweet process including the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman. She will ensure that the direct complaints will be forwarded to relevant authorities and revert with solutions at the earliest.

This ‘Start up India, Stand up India’ initiative by the Government has a lot of scope, in the current digitization era and most of the entrepreneurs that ministry caters to are already online. This Twitter initiative is expected to automate the whole process, with a mechanism where grievances are automatically routed in real time to the concerned entrepreneur. This government initiative will provide the essential backup the entrepreneurs need, resulting in more start-ups being launched and higher employment opportunities.
