Flipkart Vs Amazon: Who Will Strike It Big In India?

BANGALORE: The e-commerce platform in India is at a ripe stage with possible growth in all areas. There is a place for everyone in the Indian online retailer space but Flipkart and Amazon are in for the title race. Both the companies have big plans for growth and expansion, while at the same time looking to make profits in the near future.

Amazon, recently, opened its online portal for shopping in India, gaining a huge market and popularity. Flipkart on the other hand is making news for being a fast growing local online retailer brand that hopes to get 100 million users.

The most recent news of Flipkart’s jackpot with investors raising $1 billion in a fundraiser made Amazon step up its game announcing an expansion plan worth $2 billion. This expansion plan includes the opening of more warehouses around the country to meet its ‘same-day’ delivery motto. It will also expand the logistics of the company for a quicker and faster delivery without any delays.

Amazon has a lead in this race as it will just have to replicate its success in the U.S, here in India. It has to bring prices down to the Indian standard and give customers a reliable portal for quick and safe transaction of goods and money. “We see huge potential in the Indian economy and for the growth of e-commerce in India. With this additional investment, our team can continue to think big, innovate and raise the bar for customers in India. At current scale and growth rates, India is on track to be our fastest country ever to a billion dollars in gross sales,” Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon said.
