Entrepreneurial Preaching from the Great Indian Temples

Bangalore: Culture and tradition is never far from the Indian soil and Indian minds. This very fact implies the enormous affection of the country’s population towards the varied religious heritage and the magnificence of the age old temples. Managing pilgrims from all around the world and handling budgets of millions, the priests from the Indian temples are exemplary entrepreneurial preachers.

Temple cities like Brindavan, Tirupati and Puri have set great standars for pilgrimage and travel related organizations around the world. A paper by Kiran Shinde from University of New England, Australia shows that budding entrepreneurs have a lot to learn from the way religious tourism in India is handled.

Here are the entrepreneurial lessons derived from the world of Indian temples.

1. The heavenly organization

A defined hierarchy is the key to perfect management. Temples across the country’s vicinity, host hundreds and thousands of devotees every day. Pilgrimages like Vrindavan and Puri, execute an effective hierarchy of priests to experience efficient management. To manage such a huge crowd of so called customers, if we consider an entrepreneurial eco-system, is a mammoth job and the perfect organization and co-ordination between various groups of the temple authority makes it a cake walk. The priests are categorized into various groups with different authorities and every group is delegated to perform a specific task and they report to a particular head of association regarding any discrepancies.
