Delhi Based Educational Startup to Raise $7 Million VC Funds

Bangalore: Voice tap, a New Delhi based Educational startup is all geared up to bag about $ 7 Million worth VC for the second round of funding. The company is in talks with capitalists from US, India and Singapore to improvise on its mobile based and cellphone based educational services.

Founded March 2009 by Mrigank Tripathi, Vivek Khandelwal and Devanshu Pandey, the company mainly focuses on developing value added services mobile operators and avail actual educational content to the student users. “Voicetap's technology allows students to assess themselves and also access actual educational content and counselling services over the mobile. The technology allows students to search topics and relevant experts and then listen to content either live, from recordings or through a user-generated call,” reports Deal Curry.

The company has already raised investment worth $1 Million from CCube Angles (Singapore), Frontline Strategy & Angle Investor Umesh Kumar Baveja. As peran article on Watblog, with a $750,000 seed funding from a Singapore based consortium the company was able to build its infrastructure & being a free service the company managed to garner adequate subscribers too.  The company plans to utilize the funds to enhance its offerings. Voicetap plans to implement a one-to-many model wherein one can hold a telephonic conference & invite people to join.

Voice tap so far has been able get leading mobile operators in India like Airtel and Docomo as customers and is eyeing on the thriving smartphone and tablet market of the country. "Education is clearly a big game as mobile operators are looking at newer services that can generate revenues, as revenue from traditional value-added services drops" said Mrigank Tripathi the founder of Voicetap.
