BlueStacks Raises $6.4 Million in Funding from AMD and Citrix
Santa Clara: California-based BlueStacks, a company behind the Android-emulation software for Windows-based computers, has raised $6.4 million in strategic investment from AMD, Citrix, as well as other unnamed investors. In the past, the company had raised $7.6 million in Series A, from Ignition Ventures, radar Partners, Helion Ventures, Redpoint Ventures and Andreesseen Horowitz, bringing the total investment to $14 million. The funds will be used to accelerate the development of its app player and 'Cloud Connect Service', apart from supporting the user community and accelerating the development of products. Rosen Sharma, Founder and CEO, Bluestacks, was most recently SVP & CTO at McAfee, and was the founding CEO of Sloidcore from 2003 to 2008. Sharma has also co-founded several companies like VxTreme, Ensim, Teros, GreenBorder, and Teneros. He currently serves on the board of Cloud.com and as an advisor to Atlantis Computing. He graduated from IIT Delhi and holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University, Stanford. He briefly served as a faculty at Cornell. He has also been involved with Mentor Partners, which works with entrepreneurs in India.
