Best Startup Ecosystem in the World: Bangalore Slips from Rank 9 to 19

Bangalore: Bangalore was the only Indian city to represent the country and to find a slot in best startup eco systems around the world but there has been a slip and the city loses its 9th rank in April 2012 to its current 19th position. The report was prepared by Startup Genome by collecting data from over 50,000 startups around the globe and also by conducting quality interviews with UC Berkely, Stanford and Telefonica Digital.

“While nearly all high-growth technology startups have historically emerged from no more than three to four startup ecosystems — namely Silicon Valley and Boston — this trend appears to have reached its end,” says Startup Genome in its report that has been produced along with Telefonica Digital.

Silicon Valley retained its first rank but the second position was taken over by Tel Aviv (Israel) replacing New York City which has now fallen to the 5th position. While Bangalore made it to the list, Mumbai which was in the hot list last year has just made itself to the 20 runners up list.
