Bangalore INDIA NANO 2016 Kicks-off with Huge Expectations


BENGALURU: Fostering a business environment for the development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Industry in India, Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, kicks off the annual Bangalore INDIA NANO event.

The eighth edition of the three day event started from March 3 saw the participation of around 600 delegates. The event will be attended by 47 experts from across vertical including successful entrepreneurs and renowned scientists from the all over the world. The event will address the latest trends in nano-technology with focus on healthcare, clean water, energy, and, manufacturing and research collaboration.

The highlight of the forum is the “Nano Spark” – an event in which budding researchers are putting forth their business ideas, which can be turned into successful start-ups. Participants range from under graduates to PhD holders.

The nano-tech industry is a $100 billion enterprise which is growing at a rate of 17.5% annually. In light of the global rise of the industry, the government is coming up with a Centre for Nano and Soft materials on the Tumkuru-Bengaluru road.

Gracing the occasion, the State’s Science and Technology Minister SR Patil stated that the government is making provisions for the creation of 2000 new startups throughout the state, in addition to the already existing 4000 plus ventures.

"The government has always been keen on encouraging science as is evident from various policies and initiatives like the regional science centers among others," adds Mr.Patil.

"We have to go back a century ago when we had a great maharaja (king). He was a great visionary who saw the need to have a university in early 20th Century, then he created a dam, a steel industry and paper mills and so on. I am sure that he would have been a great patron of nano-science if he was here today," says Prof CNR Rao, who his urging young minds to come up with more innovative ideas.

The event is a stepping stone for budding entrepreneurs and the current crop of youngsters to venture into the nano-tech industry, which is the future of technology.
