5 Interesting Food Startups Started By IIT-Grads


BANGALORE: IIT graduates, all with high-flying jobs, sacrificed it all to get into food ventures, which is part of the growing $48 billion service businesses in India. Across the Indian start-up sector, there is a rising group of IITians launching food ventures through experimenting with different ideas. Here is a list of 5 start-ups, as compiled by The Economic Times.

#1.Chaayos

Two IITians ,Nitin Saluja, an IIT Bombay graduate  & Raghav Verma, an IIT Delhi graduate quit their high-flying jobs in the US  and started tea cafe chain 'Chaayos,' in November 2012. Chaayos is a new tea-selling brand that thrived from the idea of experimenting with tea. Dedicated to their motto, “Experiments with Chai,” Chaayos provides fresh and gourmet, customizable tea to their customers that will charm every tea lover that walks through their doors.

They specialize in traditional desi-chai to Kangra tea aam-papad, harimirch-chai, and God’s Chai. Apart from tea, they also feature a variety of other drinks like shakes, icy drinks, authentic beverages like Modinagar Shikanji & Homemade Chaach, and  Keema Pav. Currently, there are five cafes with the similar theme in Gurgaon and Noida.
