5 Indian Startups In 500 Startup's New International Batch

Bangalore: One of the world’s largest startup accelerators, 500 startups, has announced its new and recent international batch that consist 28 startups from around 15 countries. Out of these selected startups 5 hail from India while the rest of the startups, about 71 percent are from growing startup hubs like Brazil, China and Japan; reports TOI.

500 Startups is a California based seed accelerator fund that was founded by McClure in 2010. It has been on every startup’s radar for the huge benefits and mentoring it provides. While only one startup made it forward from each country, it was only from India that 5 startups were being shortlisted. With this entry the new incubatees will receive a committed funding of $50,000 each along with a chance to meet investors across New York and Silicon Valley.

"Often, Silicon Valley and Wall Street investors are not comfortable and will not necessarily come to know of start-ups situated 8,000 miles away. We are trying to bridge this gap, by taking them on a road show before top investors,” said Pankaj Jain, Venture Partner at 500 startups.

Apart from this, the shortlisted startups would also get a chance to camp in Mountain View for a period of four months and also interact with top notch people from Google, Microsoft and Yahoo which are based closely to the startup campus.

"There is plenty of raw talent and opportunity in India. It's just less experience, which can be supplemented by good mentorship,” said Jain to TOI.
