Over 150 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from all over Uttar Pradesh assembled for Industrial Mahakhumb at Sharda University on Saturday 19th January 2019 to promote ideas, exchange & nurture entrepreneurial skills and develop the University as a start-up hub.

Industrial Mahakumbh, an initiative of the School of Engineering & Technology, Sharda University with the collaboration of Indian Industries Association (IIA), is aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills and competencies among the students. Over 200 students participated in the day long interactive sessions and presented over 20 start-up ideas and projects. UGC recognized Sharda University is the largest educational group in Uttar Pradesh having 20000 plus students from 80 plus countries and a 1200 plus qualified faculty.

“Fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship is one of our key focus areas. With our diverse student mix from across the world, we want to create a start-up hub in our University encouraging ideas exchange. It is our endeavour to help students pursue their entrepreneurial dream, guide them, incubate them and help arrange for seed capital in our effort to promote new ideas and build new industries. We are hoping that this new consortium will bring more power to the start-up momentum in our country and globally”, says P K Gupta, Chancellor, Sharda University.

“We hope that initiatives like this will help bridge the gap between industry expectations and student knowledge to improve employability of students and also foster innovative entrepreneurial ideas. We plan to impart six month training for students across different industries to work on live projects. This will help in empowering the 80% majority of students who need more mentoring and guidance to have a successful career”, says A D Pandey, Secretary, IIA.

“We hope platforms like Industrial Mahakumbh will provide students an opportunity to easily interact with entrepreneurs from the industry and gain from their diversity of skills, knowledge and research experience”, says Dr. Parma Nand, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, Sharda University.
