Yashasvi Jaiswal scores a century, becoming the nation's youngest player to do so in T20i
Young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has written history in the enthralling encounter between India and Nepal in the Asian Games 2023 cricket event, emerging as the star of the match by hitting a century in the game. Through his maiden century in the Asian Games 2023 tournament, Yashasvi Jaiswal has become the youngest Indian to score 100 runs in a T20I tournament in history. Jaiswal smashed a stunning century against Nepal in the quarterfinals of the Asian Games 2023 at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou.
Young rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is just 21 years and 13 days old, broke the record previously held by Shubman Gill, who had smashed a ton against New Zealand at the age of 23 years and 143 days. Not only this, but Jaiswal ended up hitting a century in just 48 deliveries on his sixth appearance in the T20i format. This marks his first century in the T20i format and the Asian Games 2023, completing this feat with a single run off Nepal pacer Sompal Kami's delivery.
Apart from being the youngest Indian batter to achieve this feat, Yashasvi Jaiswal is also only the eighth Indian cricket to smash a century in the T20i format of cricket after Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Suresh Raina and Deepak Hooda. In the India vs Nepal match in the Asian Games 2023 quarterfinals, Rituraj Gaikwad's squad ended up scoring 202 for four wickets in 20 overs.
