T20I: Jaiswal, Kishan, Gaikwad fifties lead India to 44-run win over Aussies
India's young stars Yashasvi Jaiswal (53), Ruturaj Gaikwad (58), and Ishan Kishan (52) shone bright as they scored fifties each, leading India to a 44-run victory over Australia at the Greenfield Stadium in the second T20I. India was put in to bat first and their top order created history by becoming the first Indian trio to register fifty-plus scores in T20Is. With this win, India took a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.
Suryakumar Yadav played a quickfire innings of 19 runs off 10 balls before being dismissed by Nathan Ellis. Rinku Singh remained not out on 31 runs off only nine deliveries, hitting four boundaries and two sixes, as India finished their first innings with a total of 235 for 4 on the scoreboard. This is India's fifth-highest score in T20Is.
Australia openers Steve Smith and Mathew Short got their side off to a positive start, taking the attack to Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna. However, Ravi Bishnoi turned the game on its head with quick dismissals of Short and Josh Inglis.
Australia's all-rounders, Marcus Stoinis and Tim David, played some powerful shots to provide a glimmer of hope for their team. The duo quickly formed a partnership and added 81 runs to get Australia back in the game. However, Bishnoi managed to take the wicket of David in the 14th over after the latter had scored 37 runs off 22 balls, comprising of four boundaries and two sixes.
During the 236-run chase, Mukesh Kumar joined the party and denied Stoinis a well-deserved half-century, effectively breaking Australia's back. Stoinis was able to score a 25-ball 45, hitting two boundaries and four maximums before walking back. Despite Mathew Wade's 42 runs, he was unable to lead his team to victory.
