Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) sealed a top-two finish in the IPL 2025 standings after a stunning six-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in the final group stage clash at Ekana Cricket Stadium last night. Chasing a formidable target of 228, RCB pulled off the second-highest successful chase of the season, finishing at 230 for four in just 18.4 overs.
Stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma produced a breathtaking innings, smashing an unbeaten 85 off just 33 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award. Star batter Virat Kohli supported the chase with a composed 54-run knock.
Earlier, Lucknow posted a commanding 227 for three after being asked to bat first. Captain Rishabh Pant dazzled with a blistering 118 from 61 deliveries, anchoring the innings. Despite his heroics, RCB’s powerful chase rendered his effort in vain.
With this memorable win, RCB leapfrogged to second place in the table, setting up a high-stakes Qualifier 1 clash with Punjab Kings tomorrow. Gujarat Titans slipped to third and will now face Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator on Friday. Qualifier 2 is scheduled for June 1, while the grand finale will be held on June 3.
