Macau Open 2024: Kidambi Srikanth Advances

Star badminton player Kidambi Srikanth, along with fellow Indians Ayush Shetty and Tasnim Mir, successfully moved into the second round of the singles competition at the Macau Open Super 300 tournament. This marks Srikanth's return to competitive play after recovering from an injury he sustained in May. The sixth seed and silver medallist from the 2021 World Championships defeated Israel's Daniil Dubovenko with a score of 21-14, 21-15.

Ayush Shetty, who earned a bronze medal at the 2023 World Junior Championships, also had a strong showing, defeating compatriot Alap Mishra 21-13, 21-5 in his opening match. Tasnim Mir, a former world junior No. 1, overcame Devika Sihag in a tightly contested match, winning 15-21, 21-18, 22-20 in the women’s singles.

In mixed doubles, the duo of B Sumeeth Reddy and N Sikki Reddy also progressed, securing a hard-fought victory against Malaysian qualifiers Loo Bing Kun and Ho Lo Ee with scores of 24-22, 10-21, 21-13.
