Kolkata Knight Riders Edge Rajasthan Royals by 1 Run in Eden Thriller
In a nerve-racking IPL 2025 clash at Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) edged out Rajasthan Royals (RR) by just one run in Match 53 on Sunday. Chasing a formidable target of 207, RR’s Riyan Parag put on a sensational show, smashing 95 off 45 balls, including five sixes in a single Moeen Ali over, threatening to steal victory for the Royals. However, his dismissal by Harshit Rana in the penultimate over proved to be the turning point.
Earlier, KKR posted 206/4, thanks to Andre Russell’s explosive unbeaten 57 off 25 balls his first fifty of the season. After a slow start and the early dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane by Parag, Russell and Rinku Singh provided the much-needed acceleration. The duo plundered 22 runs off the final over bowled by Madhwal, ensuring KKR crossed the 200-run mark.
RR’s chase began on a shaky note with early setbacks, as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel fell cheaply to KKR’s spinners. Parag’s counterattack brought RR back into contention, with Shubham Dubey also adding late fireworks. But KKR held their nerve in the final overs, clinching a crucial victory that keeps their slim playoff hopes alive.
The win lifts KKR’s momentum as the league nears its knockout phase, while RR faces another heartbreak in a closely contested match.
