Rajasthan Royals (RR) will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their eighth league encounter of IPL 2025 on Saturday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. After suffering three consecutive defeats, the inaugural IPL champions will be desperate to return to winning ways and keep their playoff hopes alive.
RR’s most recent heartbreak came in a thrilling Super Over loss to Delhi Capitals on April 16. That match highlighted the inconsistency in their batting unit, with top-order names like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Nitish Rana, and Dhruv Jurel showing promise but struggling to convert starts into match-winning performances.
On the other side, Lucknow Super Giants also have a point to prove. They are coming off a disappointing defeat at home to Chennai Super Kings and will be keen to bounce back with a strong performance in Jaipur. Their hopes will largely rest on their in-form overseas trio Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, and Nicholas Pooran—who have been the backbone of LSG’s batting lineup this season.
Adding to LSG’s strength is the likely return of speedster Mayank Yadav, who is expected to make his IPL 2025 debut in this game. Known for his raw pace, Mayank’s inclusion could give the visitors an edge on a pitch that has offered some assistance to fast bowlers.
The Sawai Mansingh Stadium has seen high-scoring affairs this season, and fans can expect another entertaining contest. In their last home outing on April 13, RR posted 173 against RCB, but failed to defend the target, losing by nine wickets.
