Mumbai Indians secured a dominant eight-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL T20 clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai last night. Chasing a modest target of 117, Mumbai comfortably reached 121/2 in just 12.5 overs.
Opener Ryan Rickelton anchored the chase with an unbeaten 62 off 41 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav provided the finishing touch with a quickfire 27 off just 9 deliveries. Their partnership ensured Mumbai’s smooth win after an impressive bowling performance earlier in the match.
Opting to bat first, Kolkata Knight Riders struggled against Mumbai’s disciplined bowling attack and were bundled out for just 116 in 16.2 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the lone fighter for KKR, scoring 26 runs. Debutant Ashwani Kumar was the standout performer for Mumbai, claiming four wickets and becoming the first Indian to take a four-wicket haul on his IPL debut. His match-winning spell earned him the Player of the Match award.
In today’s IPL fixture, Lucknow Super Giants will take on Punjab Kings at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Both teams have two points, with Lucknow placed third and Punjab fifth.
