Lucknow Super Giants Cruise to 5-Wicket Win Over SRH
Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh gave blistering strikes as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) romped home by five wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their IPL 2025 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday.
Pursuing a target of 191, LSG dominated the SRH bowling unit with brute force. Pooran spearheaded the attack with a scorching 70 from only 26 balls, sprinkled with strong sixes and boundaries. He was ably assisted by Marsh, who scored a smooth 52 off 31 deliveries. The aggressive combination of the duo tore the SRH bowling unit apart, leading LSG to the target in only 16.1 overs.
Previously, SRH posted a total of 190 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a strong foundation, SRH's innings crashed under pressure from LSG pacer Shardul Thakur, who delivered an incredible spell. Thakur took four wickets for 34 runs, with a telling double-strike in the third over when he got rid of Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan off two consecutive balls, leaving SRH on the back foot early on.
Pat Cummins, the SRH captain, could only watch as his team found it difficult to recover from the initial blows, with some middle-order resistance but little else. SRH's inability to score big in the death overs curbed their total, which, as it turned out, was not enough for LSG's top-class batting unit.
With this victory, LSG maintained their good run in IPL 2025, demonstrating depth in both their batting and bowling units. SRH, on the other hand, will have to regroup soon as they look for consistency under their new leadership.
