Gujarat Titans pulled off a thrilling three-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in a rain-curtailed IPL clash on Tuesday, decided by the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. In a dramatic finish, GT chased down the revised target of 147 on the last ball of their 19-over innings after two rain interruptions disrupted play.
Put in to bat, Mumbai Indians posted a below-par 155/8 in their 20 overs. Will Jacks was the top scorer with a fluent 53 off 35 balls and added a crucial 71-run stand with Suryakumar Yadav, who contributed 35 off 24 deliveries. Lower-order batter Corbin Bosch chipped in with a handy 27 off 22 balls to push MI past the 150-mark. Gujarat’s spin spearhead R Sai Kishore was the standout bowler, returning with figures of 2/34 in his four overs.
In response, Gujarat Titans, led by skipper Shubman Gill’s 46-ball 43 and Jos Buttler’s 30, kept the scoreboard ticking despite pressure from MI's bowling attack. Jasprit Bumrah (2/19) and Trent Boult (2/22) kept things tight with disciplined spells, but GT held their nerve in the tense final over to seal a nail-biting win.
The result gave Gujarat a crucial boost in their campaign, while Mumbai were left to reflect on another missed opportunity in a closely fought contest.
