Gujarat Titans delivered a clinical all-round performance to register a commanding 38-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 51 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. The win lifts GT to second place on the points table with 14 points, leapfrogging Royal Challengers Bengaluru on net run rate, while virtually ending SRH’s playoff hopes with just three wins in 10 games.
Prasidh Krishna was adjudged Player of the Match for his impactful bowling, picking up 2 crucial wickets. Mohammed Siraj also chipped in with two scalps as the GT bowlers successfully defended a mammoth total of 224/6, restricting SRH to 186/6 in their 20 overs.
Earlier, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill laid a blistering foundation, powering Gujarat to their highest-ever powerplay score of 82/0. Sudharsan looked set for another half-century before falling for 47 to a clever googly from Zeeshan Ansari. Gill followed shortly after, run out for 34.
Jos Buttler played a pivotal role in the middle overs, anchoring the innings with a well-paced half-century his fifth of the season — while Washington Sundar kept the scoreboard ticking. The Titans looked set for a 230+ total until Jaydev Unadkat struck thrice in the final over, removing Sundar, Rahul Tewatia, and Rashid Khan to limit the damage.
Despite a spirited start by the SRH top order, the target proved too steep, as regular wickets and tight overs from the Titans’ bowlers closed out the game.
GT now have strong momentum heading into the business end of the tournament, while SRH face a disappointing early exit.
