In a high-octane encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Mumbai Indians (MI) gave Delhi Capitals (DC) their first loss of IPL 2025, winning a 12-run game in an exciting match on Sunday. DC, chasing a daunting 206, seemed to be in control with Karun Nair driving the charge. But his wonderful 89 remained in vain as DC suffered a late collapse, losing their last three wickets to run-outs, and finishing short.
Sent in to bat after DC decided to bowl after winning the toss, MI put up a solid score of 205/5. Tilak Verma scored the highest with a classy 59, supported by Ryan Rickelton, Suryakumar Yadav, and Naman Dhir in contributing useful runs to keep the momentum going. Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav were the pick of the bowlers for Delhi, taking two wickets each.
The game was turned on its head after the dismissal of Nair, as MI spinner Karun Nair – who unexpectedly sparkled with the ball – took three vital wickets to wreck the chase. Delhi, who were set for yet another win, collapsed under the pressure, giving MI a badly needed win.
With this outcome, there are no unbeaten sides remaining in the tournament, creating a huge upheaval in the IPL 2025 table.
