IPL 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders Defeat Chennai Super Kings by Eight Wickets
In a dominant display of both bowling and batting, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium last night in the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket match.
KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to field first. The decision paid off handsomely as Chennai, led by veteran MS Dhoni, struggled to counter Kolkata’s disciplined bowling attack. CSK managed to post a modest total of 103 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Sunil Narine starred with the ball for Kolkata, claiming three crucial wickets, while Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana chipped in with two wickets each to keep Chennai on the back foot throughout the innings.
Chasing a modest target, KKR’s batting line-up made light work of the chase. Sunil Narine shone again, smashing a quick-fire 44 runs off just 18 balls. Kolkata reached the target comfortably in just 10.3 overs. For CSK, Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad took one wicket each.
For his outstanding all-round performance, Sunil Narine was named Player of the Match.
Today’s fixtures include Lucknow Super Giants hosting Gujarat Titans at 3:30 PM, and Punjab Kings taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad at 7:30 PM.
