IOA announce Tentative dates for National Games in Uttarakhand

IOA announces preliminary dates for National Games in Uttarakhand Indian Olympic Association announced 38th National Games will take place in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14, 2025, awaiting the final confirmation by the General Assembly of the IOA. A total of 38 sports will comprise of 10,000 plus athletes, officials and coaches in the games.

The IOA had very closely collaborated with the Uttarakhand government to ensure that the 38th National Games in its territory became an unforgettable experience for all the athletes, officials, and spectators alike, according to a recent release.

"We are thrilled that the National Games will be conducted in a state which has done praiseworthy efforts and dedication to this prestigious event. This would also enable the country's athletes to portray their skills while bringing them as class competitors of the world. I also hear from government interest in hosting National Winter Games and look forward to receiving a formal proposal", stated IOA president PT Usha.

It will be the first time that such a multi-disciplinary event has ever taken place in this state of Uttarakhand known worldwide for breathtaking landscapes and a highly vibrant culture.

Chief minister of the state of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, thanked the event organisers for choosing the state as the venue and assured, "We are committed to hosting a world-class sporting event. National Games will not only come to showcase sports but also the richness and hospitality of Uttarakhand".

The state government is working aggressively to ensure that such significant infrastructural projects result in a 'smooth' event. Examples include: several new venues under construction while others are undergoing upgrades to international standards; logistics regarding participants and visitors is almost complete.
