Marathon des Sables

This multiday race is held every year in southern Morocco, in the Sahara Desert. It is considered the toughest foot race on Earth. The Marathon des Sables also known as Marathon of the Sands or Sahara Marathon is a six-day, 251 km ultra marathon and is the equivalent to six regular marathons. The longest single stage (2009) is 91 km long.

Gobi March

The race takes place in various locations around the Chinese area of the Gobi Desert, and is usually held in June. The Gobi March's challenges include changes in temperature from the cool highlands to the oppressive heat in sand dunes, the complete lack of shade, potential sandstorms, and variety of terrain–soft sand-dunes, rocky tracks, steep hills, ridges and riverbeds.
