The ICC World Cup 2023 promises to be an unparalleled cricketing spectacle from viewers’ interest and advertisers’ participation, said Ajit Varghese, Head of Network Ad Sales at Disney Star. “We are delighted to have these esteemed brands using this opportunity to get maximum impact and drive growth for their brands or businesses. The ICC World Cup 2023 will be played at 10 venues across India. Disney Star, which operates Star Sports channels and Disney+ Hotstar OTT, will be broadcasting the 50-overs ICC World Cup mega tournament. The World Cup will see 10 countries fighting for the coveted trophy and there are a total of 48 matches scheduled. As the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 returns to India after a 12-year hiatus, coinciding with the festive season and the success of the Asia Cup, advertisers are vying for prime spots in anticipation of record-breaking viewership and heightened brand visibility.
Arch cricket rivals India and Pakistan are set to play against each other in the World Cup and these games are usually a big crowd-puller. Media experts had also said earlier that matches involving Australia, England, South Africa and New Zealand are expected to see a scale equivalent to an India-Pakistan match. A Disney Star top official had earlier said they are bullish about getting robust sponsorships from most sectors, be it startups or established firms, banking on flexible advertising packages for the recently-concluded marquee Asia Cup and upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, which are likely to get unprecedented reach. Disney Star has also announced that the World Cup will be streamed without subscription charges on mobile phones and tablets.
