Ashutosh Sharma's Heroics Seal DC's Thrilling Win Over LSG
Delhi Capitals (DC) pulled off a thrilling one-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a heart-stopping IPL 2025 season opener at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. Talented young batsman Ashutosh Sharma smashed a stunning 66* from 31 deliveries to lead DC to a desperate chase of LSG's menacing 210 target.
LSG, thanks to a stellar batting effort by Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh, had DC on the back foot at 7 for 3 in the run chase. Ashutosh showed nerves of steel, however, to stitch together a vital 79-run stand with Vipraj Nigam (39) to bring DC back into the game. With 18 runs required from the last two overs, he remained calm and ended the game with a six off Shahbaz Ahmed's ball, completing the chase with three balls to spare.
After the match, Ashutosh dedicated his Player of the Match award to his guru, Shikhar Dhawan. Looking back on his journey, he attributed his success to Dhawan's guidance and announced his determination to complete games this season, having done so again and again when playing for Punjab Kings during the previous year.
