The Test of My Life – Yuvraj Singh

As the title reveals, the book is about the biggest challenge he faced in his life, i.e, Germ cell Cancer during his cricketing career. Rather than the struggle of a cancer survivor, the editor has divided the book into three parts – before cancer, during cancer and after cancer to make it more it inspiring and interesting.

First part reveals that he was a professional skater as a kid and was forced to become a cricketer by attending his father’s precise training sessions. The second part talks about the diagnosis of cancer, when he ignored the initial symptoms and his travel to the UK and US for treatment. Yuvi mentioned about the struggles he faced during the chemo sessions and the people who supported him during the period. Last and final part discloses about the determination and strength to rise into form and return. In the end, he mentioned about his NGO ‘YOUWECAN’ that provides free cancer diagnosis in rural India.

The easy, simple writing makes it one of the best single sitting reads and this 200 page book has great binding, cover and paper quality and font to make it classy like his cricketing career.

Trivia: Released on 19th March 2013 at the starting price of 5000, the first 20 copies of the book were auctioned on Collectabillia.com.
