For a moment last week during the GOP presidential debate, I thought that the Donald may step in front of the podium, unzip, and show 20 million viewers the size of his “hands”. Though he turned an entirely new shade of orange, Mr. Trump showed great restraint and addressed Senator Rubio’s taunt with words rather than action. As millions heaved a collectively sigh of relief that the U.S. was not shamed publicly, this issue is bound to rise again and no one knows how big Donald would react the next time.

When a TV reporter asked his wife Melania what she thought of this issue, she smiled mysteriously but seemed unconcerned. That to me is the best possible response to Rubio’s taunt, direct from an inside source. There really is no need for either person to unzip in public. All those haters comparing Trump to Hitler and saying that Trump too may have a size problem:

And therein lies my newfound respect for Melania Trump. I did some research on Melania and what I found made me an immediate fan. I may have to vote for Mr. Trump just so that we can have Melania as our First Lady. She would make history for the following reasons and make America proud on the world stage:

(1)   An immigrant in the White House: Enough talk about the first female president, first Jewish president, or the first Hispanic president. I am neither female, Jewish, nor Hispanic. I am a first generation immigrant. We have never had a first generation immigrant in the White House (at least in recent memory) and this could be yuuge. The only potential downside is that if Trump decides to divorce her and go for a younger model, then in the acrimony that follows, he could well deportall immigrants. At least Melania gets shipped out to Slovenia, a far prettier place than my native India.

(2)   A supermodel in the White House: Just look at the profiles of all the other first ladies in recent years. Michelle Obama worked in the public sector and in community service (poor and boring). Hillary Clinton started out as a children’s lawyer and advocate (loser). Laura Bush was a second grade school teacher (poor and loser). Would you rather have them or a supermodel? Just picture what parties at the White House would look like. When Michelle wanted to promote kids staying in school, she had to resort to making a lame rap video—check this out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1yAOK0nSb0. Now picture Melania supporting a similar cause—we could have a Victoria’s Secret lingerie party on the White House lawns and our media would give it nonstop coverage.

(3)   A college drop-out in the White House: Many presidents and first ladies take on huge student loans to go to Harvard and Princeton. Trump reminds us constantly that he went to Wharton, though clearly his father was rich enough to pay for that. Unlike them, Melania was instead inspired by Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Larry Ellison—all college dropouts and true icons of the American dream. Melania dropped out of University of Ljubljana in Slovenia to pursue a career in modeling. Having a college dropout in the White House could well inspire a whole new generation of entrepreneurs to be bold and pursue their dreams.

(4)   A foreign accent in the White House: I still miss the days of Henry Kissinger and straining my ears to understand what exactly he had said. Did he say we should nuke Russia or eat chocolate cake—it was always hard to tell. Since I also have the capacity to make heads spin with my Indian accent, I am looking forward to Melania bringing strange accents back to television. I do not want to just watch Raj in Big Bang Theory making jokes in his awkward Indian accent. I want to hear serious people like Melania espouse their views in serious forums in a foreign accent.

So for those of you narrow minded people who say that history can only be made by electing Hillary Clinton, I say think again. There are many paths to greatness for this country and electing Melania Trump as First Lady is definitely one of them. A show of hands for Melania please!
