UNESCO Adds 19 New Sites To Its Collection


Ancient City of Tauric Chersonese and its Chora—Ukraine

Founded by Dorian Greeks in the 5th century BC, the city resides on the northern shores of the Black Sea and contains Christian monuments alongside remains from Stone and Bronze Age settlements. The structures incorporate six component sites with urban remains and agricultural lands fractioned into several hundreds of chora, rectangular plots of equal size. The site also features several public building complexes and residential neighborhoods.
