Uber Introduces Teen Self-Signup and Senior-Friendly Features in India
  • Uber allows teens in India to self-sign up with guardian approval for safer, supervised travel
  • Family profiles now work without shared payment methods, offering more flexibility
  • New Seniors profile offers simpler, accessible app experience for older users

Uber has rolled out new features in India to make travel easier and more inclusive for users of all ages. The company now allows teens to sign themselves up on the Uber app through a guardian-linked account, giving them greater independence while ensuring safety and supervision.

The update is part of Uber’s broader effort to enhance its Teens and Family features, making the app more adaptable to diverse household needs. Teens can now access the platform directly, while parents or guardians retain full visibility and control over trips, payments, and ride activity.

Uber has also extended Uber One membership benefits to teens. If a guardian has an active membership, the teen automatically enjoys the same perks, with cashback accumulating in the family’s shared hub, encouraging more savings for families using Uber together.

For families, Uber has simplified the process of creating Family profiles, removing the requirement for a shared credit card. Each member can now use their own preferred payment method, whether cash or digital, making group travel coordination simpler and more flexible.

Recognizing the needs of older riders, Uber has also introduced a Seniors profile in India. This mode includes larger text, fewer buttons, and a streamlined interface for ease of use. Guardians can track rides and manage saved locations for elderly family members.

Shiva Shailendran, Director of Consumer Growth at Uber India and South Asia, said the new features are designed to help “every member of the family travel confidently, from teens to seniors”.
