- SUV bookings rise to 36% while hatchbacks fall to 51%
- Gen Z now accounts for 31% of all trips, up from 22% last year
- 71% of trips are short getaways under two days
Zoomcar’s Travel Trends 2025 report reveals a major shift in how Indians are traveling today with SUVs, short trips, and Gen Z leading the way. According to the data, SUV bookings jumped from 30% to 36%, reflecting a growing demand for space, comfort, and style. Meanwhile, hatchback bookings dropped from 57% to 51%.
Travel habits are changing fast. The report shows that 71% of all trips in 2025 were under two days, a rise from 66% in 2023. At the same time, longer trips of over 7 days grew by 28%, indicating a rise in work from anywhere lifestyles and more flexible mobility.
The generational shift is also clear, Gen Z (ages 18–25) now makes up 31% of all trips, compared to just 22% last year. This young crowd is driving solo travel, choosing offbeat destinations, and making spontaneous plans.
Zoomcar also saw a 125% spike in bookings around festive weekends like Holi, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanti, showing how Indians are embracing calendar driven escapes over traditional vacation planning.
