10. Da Hong Pao

A cup of tea at the end of a tiring day is worth millions! Well if taken literally then it is the Da Hong Pao Tea that you might be talking about. It is a premium variety of Wu Yi Yan Cha.  The tea is from China, and as everything from China comes with legends so does this Tea.

The legend goes like this, the mother of a Ming Dynasty emperor was cured of an illness because of drinking this tea. Three of these original bushes, growing on a rock on Mount Wuyi and reportedly dates back to the Song Dynasty, still survive today and are highly respected. This tea has been sold for RS. 1 core for 1 kilogram.

Another story that surrounds this Tea; which more likely that not is just an exaggeration. In 1972, the US President Nixon was said to have relieved 50 grams of this tea. And if that was valued at today’s rate, that 50 grams of Tea would cost a whopping 1 core.
