On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent warm greetings, hoping that the festival would fill India's collective vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) with fresh strength. The festival, which is observed every year, is considered a propitious occasion marking prosperity, good luck, and enduring success.
PM Modi went to X to share his message, saying, "Infinite best wishes to all of you on Akshaya Tritiya. May this auspicious festival dedicated to humanity bring success, prosperity and happiness to everyone, and give new strength to the resolve of a Viksit Bharat".
Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej or Akti, is traditionally celebrated by purchasing gold, believed to symbolize wealth and security. The day is considered highly auspicious for starting new ventures, making valuable purchases, and performing religious rituals. It is widely believed that actions undertaken on this day bring lifelong blessings.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also sent his greetings, terming Akshaya Tritiya as a festival that marks the coming together of nature and culture. He expressed his wish that the sacred day would bring virtue eternal, good luck, and prosperity into everyone's life.
Union Minister J.P. Nadda also expressed similar sentiments, saying, "I extend my warmest good wishes to all of you on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, which gives eternal virtuous outcomes. May this sacred day usher in an endless stream of happiness, prosperity, and auspicious opportunities into your lives".
The term 'Akshaya' represents something eternal or unbreakable, and 'Tritiya' denotes the third day of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu lunar calendar. The day also happens to be Parashurama Jayanti, which is the birthday of Lord Vishnu's sixth incarnation, further endowing the festival with spiritual and cultural importance.
