BANGALORE: What does a lifestyle mean to you? Is it the quality of materialistic things you possess or the food you put in your mouth or where you hangout? Well, lifestyle is just a term, which can be differentiated as healthy and bad. The importance of a healthy lifestyle is known to the world, while the after-effects of a bad one is too known but often most ignored.

Most of the Indians particularly men suffer from the effects of following an unhealthy lifestyle.

According to a survey released on the occasion of World’s Men Health Week, it points that diabetes is high in men in the major Indian metro cities, like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmadabad. Rising cholesterol is a major factor behind deaths due to chest congestion, or heart attack.

Earlier diseases like diabetes and problems relate to heart, and obesity was considered as inherent and family genes were to be blamed. But in today’s world it’s the lifestyle, which is taking a toll on health. Leading a lifestyle which includes drinking more than required, smoking regularly, being on a poor diet, stress, lack of physical activity and ignoring all healthy activities, is where all health-related problems start.

The patients are increasing especially men and it has become a need to follow a healthy lifestyle. It includes giving sometime to yoga and physical activities to keep you body in perfect shape. Eating healthy food and adding more natural fruits, juices and vegetables to your diet will give an immune system to fight back diseases.

As always said, Prevention is better than cure; and apart from making your lifestyle a healthy one, going for a regular screening of your heath will fight back the chances of growth of diseases like diabetes, high cholesterol, heart problems and even prostrate cancer, which is alarmingly seen rising among men’s health problems.

Changing your lifestyle can be a daunting task and not be achieved at the earliest, but taking small right steps towards it will not only make you happy but free from health worries and rising medical bills.
