Haryana's Chief Secretary targets grassroots air pollution reduction
The Chief Secretary of Haryana, Sanjeev Kaushal, has outlined the state government's commitment to curbing air pollution through the effective implementation of its grassroots action plan. As a pivotal component of this approach, the Haryana Government is set to launch an electric bus service in urban areas and deploy a comprehensive smart traffic management system across the state. Speaking at a workshop organized by the Environment Department, Kaushal reported the identification and labeling of 2.8 million vehicles with stickers, accompanied by appropriate measures against vehicles contributing to pollution.
Furthermore, initiatives have been implemented to manage the dust emanating from construction and demolition operations. The Chief Secretary highlighted the government's proactive steps to enhance air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR) and adjacent areas within the state. Through a collaborative effort with the Forest and Environment departments, the action plan has resulted in a rise in green cover. The Forest Department has established forest clusters for the Green Haryana initiative, expanding Nagar Van and Nagar Vatikas to support tree plantation initiatives. Large-scale awareness campaigns are also underway to promote and encourage tree planting.
Electric vehicles (EVs) in India are gaining momentum as the country embraces sustainable and eco-friendly transportation. With the government's push towards reducing carbon emissions, various incentives and subsidies are being offered to promote EV adoption. Major automakers are investing in electric mobility, launching a range of electric cars, scooters, and bikes to cater to diverse consumer needs. Charging infrastructure is expanding rapidly, addressing concerns about range anxiety. Additionally, government initiatives like the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme further bolster the EV ecosystem. India is gradually transitioning towards a greener and more sustainable future in the automotive sector.
